This is the fossil specimen upon which my T shirt design was based. The Tyrannosaurus rex fossil displayed at the Carnegie Museum of Natural History in Pittsburgh is one of the most iconic and scientifically significant dinosaur specimens in the world. Known informally as "Carnegie’s T. rex," this fossil was discovered in 1902 by famed fossil hunter Barnum Brown in Montana’s Hell Creek Formation. It was among the first T. rex skeletons ever unearthed, helping to define the species and cement its place as the quintessential apex predator of the Late Cretaceous. The fossil was acquired by the Carnegie Museum in 1941 and has since become a centerpiece of its paleontology exhibit. Towering over visitors with its massive skull and banana-sized teeth, this T. rex embodies both the power and mystery of prehistoric life. Ongoing scientific studies and modern reconstructions continue to refine our understanding of this legendary dinosaur, but the Carnegie specimen remains a foundational piece in the legacy of Tyrannosaurus rex research.
